THEO FABERGÉ has created this Egg in a spirit of rebirth for the much loved city of New Orleans following the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.

Hand engine-turned in sterling silver and guilloché enamelled in toned purple of the State’s own livery. The Egg is adorned with the silhouette of the Saint Louis Cathedral to the fore and to the reverse, the State Seal – both crafted in silver and 18 kt gold.

Interspersing the Fabergé swags on the lower section are stylised Louisiana fleurs-de-lis. The base is hand-spun and engine-turned, in silver and 18 kt gold. Open the Egg to reveal General Andrew Jackson mounted proudly on his war-horse, a representation of the statue in New Orleans’s Jackson Square. “The Hero of New Orleans” from the War of 1812, symbolically poised to ride to the rescue yet again.
