Oak trees Peter the Great planted to build the Russian fleet are now being used to build an exact replica of his ship, The Shtandart. This inspired Theo Fabergé to design the Shtandart Egg, a creation that captures the ship's magnificence and commemorates the 300th Anniversary of Peter the Great’s visit to Great Britain.
Hand-turned from oak, the Egg's exterior is decorated with fine vermeil rope and detailed with the ship’s wheel and anchor.
Open the Egg to reveal the surprise within: the essential navigation apparatus, a compass, to guide the Shtandart on her maiden voyage.
